Global Indian International School Singapore

Global Indian International School, Singapore (GIIS) was established on 11 November as Indian Central School Singapore (ICS). It was the first Indian international school in Singapore. The school started its first classes based on the CBSE curriculum in August 2002 with 50 students in a building at Mount Sofia Road. The first batch of classes only encompassed the grades of Kindergarten to 7th grade and as years passed by the 7th grade classes advanced to 8th grade, and then to 9th grade and so on. In 2004 the school became part of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan group and changed its name to Bhavan's Indian International School (BIIS). With a rapidly rising student population, the school could no longer meet its needs at its Mt. Sofia campus and so, in 2005, it moved to a bigger campus at 1 Mei Chin Road, where it is currently headquartered. In 2006, it introduced the International Baccalaureate curriculum for its first batch of 11th graders. In the same year, the Global Indian Foundation was created and the school adopted its present name to reflect its relationship with the foundation and its future expansion goals outside Singapore. In 2009 a new campus was established in Balestier.GIIS now has 21 campuses in Singapore, USA, Malaysia, Japan, UAE, Thailand, Vietnam and India from over 3 different nationalities.〔(Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2010 )〕〔(Deccan Chronicle )〕 The current principal of the Queenstown campus (as of 2013) is Mrs.Madhu Khanna
